"The MAD Number System” was designed by me, Janet Margaret, to help my own children with math. After watching them use it successfully, I now have the pleasure of watching my grandchildren use it. I am excited to present this system to you and your family.
The “I Count" book was developed to help your child learn basic math concepts. By following the “MAD Number System” your child will recognize numbers and the words associated with them. Your child will also learn very quickly to add numbers together without counting on their fingers or using a calculator. After using and learning this system, your child will always see written numbers and math problems differently.
The “MAD Number System” works in a few simple steps.
Step One: Hands-on Learning. In this step, children practice using the Red Dots that are strategically placed on a number. The number of Red Dots on a number corresponds to its value. For example, the number 3 would have three Red Dots placed on it in a specific place.
Step 2: Recognition. In this step, the child can visualize where the Red Dots would fall on a number without the actual dots on the number. For example, if given the number 4 in a homework assignment, the child will visualize four dots on the number.
Step 3: Application. In this step, the child is able to use the system to solve simple math problems. For example, if given the problem 5+2, the child will visualize the number of Red Dots and quickly be able to solve the problem.
